Tetrapods in 1:35 scale, that is, the four-armed concrete blocks from breakwaters and coastal defenses. An accessory for dioramas with a shoreline or a harbor.
Responsibility details are not available.
A tetrapod is a concrete block with four conical arms that is tipped at the foot of breakwaters, sea walls and threatened stretches of coastline. The arms of neighboring blocks interlock, so the heaped pile does not shift apart while gaps remain between the blocks in which the energy of the waves is broken. It is precisely that irregular, interlocked pile that is instantly recognizable in photographs of harbors and coast roads.
The set is in 1:35 scale, the same size as the usual models of military vehicles and figures. It will find a use in coastal dioramas, harbor walls, moles and quaysides, wherever the foot of a wall needs filling with something that has a shape of its own and yet does not draw attention to itself. It also works well as the dividing line between the water surface and the dry part of a base.
Concrete reads convincingly as a light gray base coat with a darker wash run into the joints and dry-brushing on the edges. At the waterline it helps to suggest greenish to brown growth and deposits, while higher up the surface is more parched and dusty. Stack the blocks irregularly and let them lean on one another; a regular row looks unnatural.
For builders of dioramas and vignettes with coastal or harbor scenery. Paints, glue and the base are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
