Tetra Model Works 1:35 U.S. M2A1 Cal.50 Ammo Box is a photo-etched detail set for building American ammunition boxes of the later M2A1 type for rounds of 12.7 mm caliber. It is an accessory for a model, not a kit.

A photo-etched detail set in 1:35 scale aimed at ammunition boxes of the M2A1 type for the heavy machine gun of 12.7 mm caliber. You will find no model of a vehicle or a weapon in the package - they are sheets of photo-etch from which you fold the boxes and complete with them a finished kit, a mount, the holders on the body or a diorama scene. The thin metal material gives the walls and the lid a thickness that corresponds to the scale.
The M2A1 is the later, modernized form of the American sheet-metal ammunition box for ammunition of 12.7 mm caliber. It differs from the older M2 type in details of the lid, the catch and the handle; the function stayed the same - the box carries the ammunition belt to the heavy machine gun and is transported in holders by the weapon or loose on the vehicle. On models of contemporary and postwar American equipment it is one of the most frequently visible small objects.
Cut the part out with a scalpel, level the burr with a fine file and bend the edge in a bender - with a long wall the straightness of the bend matters more than speed. Glue the joints with cyanoacrylate glue in a minimal dose and soak the excess up with the tip of a toothpick. Before painting, degrease the brass and spray a primer for metal. Then a base olive color is enough, with a dark wash into the pressings, a dry brush on the edges and a little dust pigment at the bottom. If you want to stack the boxes on top of each other, glue them together only after painting, otherwise they are hard to reach with a brush.
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and the basic kit are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
