A set of 9 turned brass barrels of 406 mm caliber (1:350) from the Polish maker Aber for models of American battleships of the Iowa class. A metal accessory, not a kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is a set of nine accurately turned brass barrels of the 406 mm main caliber in 1:350 scale from the Polish maker Aber. It is not a model of a ship nor a kit but a metal aftermarket accessory with which the plastic barrels of the gun turrets on models of American battleships of the Iowa class are replaced. The count of nine pieces matches the three triple turrets of the main battery.
The battleships of the Iowa class (Iowa, New Jersey, Missouri, Wisconsin) carried as their main armament nine guns of 406 mm caliber, in the 16-inch form with a barrel 50 calibers long. It was the heaviest artillery armament of the US Navy of the Second World War, and the ships of this class served, with several modernizations, until the end of the 20th century.
The turned barrels have a sharper profile of the muzzle and a truer taper than plastic. Cut the original plastic barrels off and clean up the openings in the turrets. Degrease the metal parts before gluing and fit them with cyanoacrylate glue. Before fitting, the brass can be given a primer for metal so that the paint holds better.
This is a metal detail accessory. The model of the ship itself, glue and paints are not included in the package.
