The set contains a casting of the AGM-88 HARM air-to-surface guided missile in 1:48 scale. It is an accessory for an aircraft model, not a kit of an airplane; it serves to swap the simplified external stores from a base kit for a sharply cast resin part. The AGM-88 HARM is an American anti-radiation missile intended for suppressing ground radars. Technically it is a slender body of circular section with two sets of lifting and control surfaces and with a passive seeker head in the forward part. What matters for a model is precisely that slender body with the sharp edges of the fins, as injected plastic manages these thin surfaces only with difficulty, whereas a casting keeps them sharp.
The body of the missile tends to be cast with the casting block at the rear or on the axis. Cut it off with a saw, not with nippers, as resin cracks. Level the mating surface by sanding wet, so that no airborne dust is created; for longer work use a respirator and eye protection. The fins are small: pick them up with locking tweezers, work over a light surface and away from a carpet, otherwise you will not find a part that springs away. Wash the part free of the release agent before painting. The surest hold while spraying is a toothpick or a wire pushed into the hole left by the casting block and stuck into a piece of modeling putty; you then turn the store without touching a painted surface. Glue it to the pylon with cyanoacrylate glue only at the end.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and other accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
