Omask 1:48 Bf 109 G-10 MTT is a set of self-adhesive masks for a model of the Messerschmitt Bf 109 G-10 from the production of the MTT plant.

This is an aid for painting, not a model nor decals. The cut self-adhesive parts are stuck onto a finished model, sprayed over with paint, and once they are removed a sharply bounded area in the original shade stays behind. The abbreviation MTT in the name refers to the Messerschmitt plant at Regensburg. With the late Bf 109 G-10 the production was not standardized and machines from different plants differed in details of their construction as well as in the spray patterns used, which is why the mask maker offers versions tied to a particular production line. When choosing, it therefore pays to check which plant the machine you are building came from.
Spraying through a mask has one substantial advantage over a decal in that the result is part of the paint layer. Nothing stands above the surface, nothing wrinkles over an engraved line and nothing peels off during later sanding or weathering. With the late machines and their varied mottled finishes this shows even more than elsewhere, because a decal laid on an irregular base never beds down completely.
Work on a smooth, degreased surface. Carry the mask with tweezers, and once it is stuck down press the whole perimeter with a toothpick and watch the curves in particular. Apply the paint in several light layers, so that it does not get under the edge from the pressure. Choose the order of the colors from light to dark; a light shade covers a dark base far less well. Remove the mask while the paint is not yet fully cured and pull the edge back over itself, not perpendicularly upward. Wipe the adhesive residue away with alcohol.
