AMP 1:48 Bristol Sycamore HR.50/51 is a plastic kit of the British helicopter in its Australian version, complemented by photo-etched parts, clear castings and decals for several schemes.
Responsibility details are not available.
A kit of the Bristol Type 171 Sycamore helicopter in the HR.50 and HR.51 export versions in 1:48 scale from the manufacturer AMP. It is a new mold from the end of the second decade of this century. In the package you will find sprues of injection-molded plastic, a separate clear sprue for the cabin glazing, photo-etched parts, decals and instructions. The decals cover Australian schemes for several machines.
The Bristol Type 171 Sycamore was the first series-produced British helicopter. It came about at the close of the 1940s under the leadership of the rotorcraft designer Raoul Hafner. It was a light multirole machine with a piston engine and a four-blade main rotor, used for liaison duties, training, search and rescue and the evacuation of the wounded. The HR.50 and HR.51 designations were carried by the export variants derived from the first production forms, which Australia acquired and operated both over land and from the deck.
This is a short-run mold, so count on flash on the parts and on the subassemblies having a larger number of small pieces than you are used to on this type. It pays to try everything carefully dry and to sand the flash off before gluing. Assemble the rotor head and the landing gear slowly and watch the alignment, so that the blades are not twisted. Fit the clear parts only after painting and mask them with tape. Glue the photo-etched parts with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). Lay down gloss varnish before the decals and overvarnish with matte once it has dried.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
