This resin set from Aires in 1:48 scale holds finely made Colt Mk.12 cannon of 20 mm caliber. It is not an aircraft kit but a detail accessory for the armament, replacing the simplified parts of a base kit. The set is intended for more experienced modelers.
The Colt Mk.12 was an American 20 mm aircraft cannon used in the Cold War era. It armed carrier-based aircraft of the US Navy, among them the F-8 Crusader fighter and the A-4 Skyhawk light attack aircraft. It was marked by a high rate of fire, but was more sensitive in terms of reliability than the later rotary cannon.
Wash the mold release agent off the resin parts, cut off the casting blocks and clean up the surfaces with respiratory protection. They are bonded with super glue (cyanoacrylate). The weapons come into their own in a dark metal shade with gentle highlighting. Check that they seat in the gun bay of the base kit before gluing them in.
This is a resin accessory for a kit, not the airplane model itself. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
