Sagittarius and Cancer

On this sheet there are the motifs of two Consolidated B-24 bombers. The sign of Sagittarius was carried by the machine with serial number 252400, Cancer then by the machine 252650. The name of the first sign is recorded in an anglicized form that differs slightly from the Latin one, but it is demonstrably the same archer of the zodiac.

Twelve machines, no loss

A remarkable piece of information is tied to this set: during all the combat missions the squadron flew with Liberators it did not lose a single one of its zodiac aircraft. With a unit committed over Europe at a time of the heaviest losses that was not a matter of course and the men were well aware of it. The paintings therefore soon gained the reputation of being something more than mere decoration and whole crews were photographed beside them.

Before you reach for water

It pays to lay a motif against the model dry first and note where its edge reaches. A damp print sticks practically at once and the position can be adjusted on a curved area only for a moment. Use lukewarm water and keep the dish shallow, so that a released piece of artwork does not have to be fished out of the depths. After application press the whole joint down with a damp sponge, which forces out bubbles that would turn white once dry.

Intended use of the set

The sheet is used while building a heavy bomber model in a ratio of 1:48 and holds printing only. A leftover motif can be kept for next time; the printing lasts for years, provided you do not store it in the sun. A bomber kit, paints and final varnish are not to be found in the package; they are separate items the modeler chooses to his own habit and to the finish he wants.
