Construction Worker (fat Tony) carries cement sack is a figure of a construction worker carrying a sack of cement in 1:48 scale from the MAiM brand. It is a civilian figure intended for dioramas and modeling scenes.

According to the name this is one figure of a construction worker, shown at the moment when he is carrying a sack of cement; the manufacturer gave him the nickname fat Tony. The figure is civilian, not military, and in 1:48 scale it suits construction, urban and industrial scenes. Scale 1:48 means a height of an adult figure of roughly 3.5 to 4 centimeters, so the figure works as a complement to models of both air and land equipment in the same scale.
Figures give a scene scale and a story: without a human figure a viewer can hardly estimate the size of equipment and a scene looks static. A worker in movement, and with a load at that, is rewarding precisely because his pose itself suggests what is going on in the diorama. He comes into his own with construction machines, trucks, an airfield rear area and models of buildings. The manufacturer also lists figures conceived in a similar way in further scales and in further poses, so a smaller working gang can be put together.
Figures from small-run production tend to be of resin or of 3D printing. Wash them in lukewarm soapy water before painting, cut the casting blocks and supports off carefully and sand the parting gaps; sand with your airways protected. Super glue will manage the joining of the parts. A thin base coat follows, ideally sprayed, because on the smooth surface of a figure every heavy layer shows itself as a loss of detail. Skin is painted in three steps: the base tone, shadow in the recesses, light on the raised surfaces. Working clothing takes dirtying, so a light wash into the folds and a dry brush on the edges pay off. The sack of cement looks better with a matte, slightly dusty surface which you bring out with pigments.
The figure is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and a base are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
