The set contains parts etched from thin metal sheet, prepared for a model of the Dassault Mirage 2000D aircraft in 1:48 scale. A photo-etched part has a thickness that injection-molded plastic will not come close to, and it therefore looks more faithful in scale everywhere the real subject has a thin wall, a grille or a narrow strap. It is fitted to a model without cutting into its shape; individual parts are simply replaced or added.
The Mirage 2000D is the two-seat form of the French single-engine Mirage 2000 combat aircraft, intended for attacks against ground targets. The mark of the whole family is the tailless layout with a delta wing, complemented on the two-seat version by a lengthened cockpit with the seats one behind the other. Two stations in the cockpit mean twice the instruments and controls, so this is exactly where there is most work on a model.
The parts are held on the fret by thin tabs; cut through them with a sharp blade on a hard surface and level the remainder of the tab with a file. Make the bends at the scored line over a straight edge or in a bending tool. They are glued with a minute amount of cyanoacrylate glue. Before painting, wash the metal, degrease it and coat it with a base for metal surfaces. Paint small parts while still on the fret; they are then much easier to work with. Go through the assembly sequence of the individual groups of parts in the manufacturer's instructions before you start gluing.
The model of the aircraft, paints, glue and tools are not included in the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
