A decal sheet from the Hungarian manufacturer HAD models in 1:48 scale intended for a model of the four-engine Consolidated B-24D Liberator bomber. The sheet is devoted to one particular machine nicknamed Green Dragon, with the serial number 41-23683, in period American wartime markings. It is neither a kit nor a finished model: it is an accessory in its own right with which you mark a model built from a separately sold kit.
The B-24D was the first version of the Liberator delivered in large batches. It was a high-wing aircraft with a long slender Davis wing, four radial engines and characteristic twin fins and rudders. Machines of this version flew as long-range bombers and on maritime patrol, and individual examples differed from one another in their bold individual nose art, which makes them easy to tell apart on a model.
Decals belong on a smooth gloss base: once the paint has dried, spray the area with gloss clear coat, otherwise silvery microbubbles will appear under the film. Cut the design out as close to the printing as possible, dip it in lukewarm water for a few seconds and let it rest until the film begins to slide freely on the backing. A decal softener helps it settle, as it draws the film onto the engraved lines and the rivets; on large designs press the water out with a soft cloth from the center toward the edges. Finally seal the whole model with a matte or semi-gloss varnish according to the surface you want.
The package holds the decal sheet only. The model, paints, glue and varnishes are not included.
