An MH models 1:48 masking set for spraying the markings of the Dornier Do 215B-4. For modelers who want the lettering and codes sprayed in the finish rather than applied on the surface.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is an accessory for a kit, not a model of the aircraft. The sheet from MH models is focused on the markings of the machine, that is, on the features other than the national crosses themselves. The exact make-up of the insignia is stated on the box.
The Do 215B-4 was a twin-engine reconnaissance and bomber machine derived from the Do 17Z, recognizable by its elongated glazed nose and its inverted V12 engines. Reconnaissance machines tended to carry restrained markings, where the result is decided by the sharpness of the edges and accurate placement, and that is exactly the domain of masks.
Letters and numbers sprayed through a mask have a hard edge with no glossy frame around them. They do not shrink, they do not crack over rivets and they do not absorb a wash differently from the surrounding finish. If you are finishing the model in matte or planning more pronounced weathering on it, this is the way to avoid the typical silvering of a decal on exposed panels.
Transfer the masks of closed shapes, that is, the inner openings of letters and numerals, separately and watch their position, because after spraying they can no longer be moved. Apply the paint in several very thin coats; one heavy coat creates a ridge at the edge of the mask. Once the mask is removed, let the paint cure thoroughly and only then move on to matte varnish and weathering.
The set is cut for a particular kit in 1:48 scale; check the match with the model you are building before you buy. Paints and varnishes are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
