It is not a kit and not a finished model — it is an accessory a modeler buys for a plastic Skyhawk model in 1:48 scale. The shape of the cuts matches the Hasegawa kit. The masks are therefore not universal, and before buying it is worth verifying that you have the matching model.
The Douglas A-4 Skyhawk was a light single-engine carrier attack aircraft of the US Navy and Marine Corps. It came about in the mid-1950s as a deliberately small and simple machine with a delta wing that did not have to fold. The A-4E version received a more powerful engine and further stores stations, and the later A-4F is recognizable from outside by the dorsal avionics hump behind the cockpit. The type served in many countries long after series production ended.
The frames of the cockpit canopy can be painted by hand, but on small curves it is almost impossible to keep the line the same width. A mask settles this work in a few minutes and the edge stays sharp. The procedure is simple: degreased glazing, lift the mask off the backing with the point of a scalpel, lay it on dry and press it down with a soft wooden stick so that it seats even in the bends. Spray the interior color first, and only then the outer shade — the transition under the frame will then not show through. Take the mask off shortly after the finish has dried, not after several days, when the adhesive holds most firmly.
This is an add-on set, not a kit. The model, paints and glue are not included in the package.
