Turned barrel for the German 88 mm KwK 43 L/71 gun without a muzzle brake, 1:35 scale from the Polish maker Aber is intended for the late version of the Tiger II with the production turret and for the late Jagdpanther.

This is a replacement barrel for a kit, not a vehicle model. The turned metal part replaces the plastic barrel from the kit and removes its two typical weaknesses: the lengthwise parting line, which cannot be sanded down without damaging the surroundings, and its imperfect straightness. The metal barrel is straight, it carries its own weight and does not sag even after a long time in a display case, which shows especially on a weapon with a barrel 71 calibers long. According to the name the version is without a muzzle brake.
The 88 mm KwK 43 gun with a barrel length of L/71 was the main armament of the Tiger II heavy tank, that is the Panzerkampfwagen Tiger Ausf. B. The production turret designation refers to the later type of turret with a flat front, which replaced the earlier version and makes up the great majority of the vehicles built. A weapon of the same caliber and the same length was also installed in its antitank form in the Jagdpanther tank destroyer, which is exactly why the manufacturer covers both vehicles in their late form with one barrel.
Degrease the metal with spirit before gluing. Dry fit the mounting first: a long straight barrel brings out every deviation from the turret axis, and once super glue has set, correcting it is difficult. Anyone who wants more time to line it up should reach for a two-part epoxy. It is painted over a primer for metal; bring out the muzzle with a dark shade and dust the underside of the barrel with pigment, because this is exactly where the dust from firing settled on real vehicles.
