Decals in 1:35 scale from Star Decals: Balkan Peacekeepers, FV 432 Trojan, UNPROFOR in Bosnia. Markings of the British tracked carrier in a UN peacekeeping mission.
Responsibility details are not available.
A decal set from the Star Decals brand in 1:35 scale from the range devoted to the peacekeeping forces in the Balkans. This item keeps to a single vehicle, the British FV 432 tracked armored personnel carrier, and to a single deployment, the UNPROFOR mission in Bosnia. These are markings for a finished model, not a kit.
The FV 432 was a British tracked carrier of the 1960s, a simple and exceptionally long-lived machine, which stayed in service with the British army for decades in dozens of roles. The name Trojan was assigned to it in an early phase of the program, but in ordinary practice it hardly caught on and the vehicle was practically always designated by its type number alone. The UNPROFOR mission ran on the territory of the former Yugoslavia in the first half of the 1990s and the British contingent in it was among the strongest. The vehicles of the UN peacekeeping forces received a characteristic white coat, which was to set them apart from the fighting sides at first sight, supplemented by large lettering and the recognition markings of the mission. For a modeler it is an attractive combination: equipment designed for the Cold War in a role it was never created for.
A white base is unforgiving, so watch out on it for fingerprints and for dirt under a decal. Work in a clean environment, with tweezers and a soft brush. The side of the FV 432 is an almost flat plate, which makes seating easier, but around the hatches and brackets a softener pays off. Before working, go through the directions given on the packaging.
