Responsibility details are not available.
An injection-molded plastic kit of the British Westland Dragonfly helicopter in the HC.2 version intended for rescue duties, in 1:48 scale from the brand AMP. The package holds plastic sprues including clear parts, photo-etched parts and masking templates. The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. It is a short-run kit, which calls for more careful work than a mass-produced one.
The Westland Dragonfly was created as a license-built British version of an American Sikorsky helicopter, but with a reworked fuselage and a British Alvis Leonides radial engine. In its day it was one of the first genuinely usable rescue helicopters: it was used to lift survivors out of the sea, to carry the wounded and for standby duty at airfields. The HC.2 version served with the Royal Air Force mainly for casualty evacuation, while the version for the navy was used for rescue at sea. The rounded glazed cabin and the truss tail boom structure are characteristic.
The large cabin glazing is the main theme of the build — it pays to use the enclosed masking templates and to protect the clear parts from glue and from sanding. The interior is clearly visible under the glazing, so devote more time to it than you would expect on a helicopter of this size. Always dry-fit the parts of a short-run kit first. Rescue machines usually wore striking finishes with high-visibility areas, where good masking and straight edges are the key. Fit the rotor blades only after the finish is complete.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
