1:48 F-14A WEAPONS SET

What the set is about

This is an accessory set focused on the missile armament of modern Russian combat aircraft in 1:48 scale. Underwing stores tend to be what ages first in a kit: the parts in the box are often simplified, there are two or three of them, and a modeler who wants the machine loaded as in photographs from service adds them separately. The exact list of weapons, pylons and fittings is given in the manufacturer's instructions; the name does not enumerate them.

What to check accordingly

This is an accessory set for aircraft models and the name gives the 1:48 scale. The name does not say which kit and which type of aircraft it is prepared for, though; the pylons and their spacing differ between the individual types, so it pays to find that out before you try the set against the model. Photographs of real machines are a guide as well, because the arrangement of the stores changes with the mission and with the operator.

Building and painting tips

Before painting, wash the parts in lukewarm water with a drop of detergent and let them dry properly, so that the paint holds. Cut the excess material off with a sharp blade a little away from the part and sand the remainder down carefully so as not to damage the edges. Missiles are easier to paint and to letter separately from the model, on a stick or on a wire; only when they are finished are they fitted to the pylons. The manufacturer's instructions give the actual fitting procedure and any modifications.
