1:48 F-94A/B Starfire pt.1 is a separate decal set from Caracal Models for plastic models of the Lockheed F-94A and F-94B interceptor in 1:48 scale. It is not a kit but an accessory for one.
Responsibility details are not available.
This item is not a model of an aircraft. It is a sheet of decals in 1:48 scale that the modeler buys for a plastic model of the Lockheed F-94 Starfire in the A and B versions, either under way or finished. The designation of a first part suggests that this is the opening part of a range devoted to the same type. The particular make-up of the sheet, that is, which schemes and which units it holds, is in the instructions enclosed in the package.
The F-94 Starfire was a two-seat all-weather interceptor introduced by the US Air Force at the turn of the 1940s and 1950s. In design it was derived from the Lockheed T-33 trainer: the nose received a radar, an operator took the second seat and the propulsion was a jet engine with an afterburner. The A and B versions differ from the later C version in the shape of the nose, the layout of the armament and details of the cockpit. During the build it is therefore necessary to watch that the chosen model and the scheme used match one and the same variant.
Decals hold best on a smooth gloss base. Varnish the areas they will go onto with gloss varnish and let it cure thoroughly. Cut the individual motifs close to the artwork, so that as little clear carrier as possible is left. Dip a decal in lukewarm water for only a few seconds and let it rest on a paper towel until it can be moved with a finger. On rivets and broken-up areas a setting solution applied with a brush helps; blot the excess water with a cloth and press the decal down with a cotton bud. Finally even the whole model out with a matte or semi-gloss varnish, which hides the edges of the carrier.
This is a separate set of decals. The plastic model, paints and varnish are not included in the package.
