A set of photo-etched metal parts for a model of the F/A-18E carrier-borne aircraft in 1:48 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
The F/A-18E is the single-seat form of the carrier-borne multirole aircraft Super Hornet. Against the older machines of the Hornet family it has a larger lifting surface, angular air intakes and more pylons under the wing. It is a large carrier-borne aircraft on which fine accessories come into their own: the surface has a great many covers, grilles and small fittings.
Photo-etched metal parts in 1:48 scale for a model of the F/A-18E. Photo-etching suits everywhere a part is to be thin and firm at the same time, that is for surfaces that injection-molded plastic can manage only in a thicker and softer form. Which parts of the model the set covers and in what number is given in the manufacturer's instructions; what to remove from the plastic before the photo-etched part is fitted goes by them as well.
Cut the part out with a sharp blade on a hard surface, not with nippers, which will bend the metal. Level the remains of the tab with a fine file. The bends run along the marked groove, best of all in a bending tool or by pressing the part against a blade at the edge of a hard surface; bend the metal in one movement, because repeated bending will crack it. It is glued with cyanoacrylate glue laid on in the slightest amount on the tip of a toothpick. Degrease the metal before painting and give it a primer meant for metal, or you will peel the finish off with a fingernail while handling it.
A photo-etched set is supplied. The model of the aircraft, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
