A resin detail part, not an airplane kit. This fine resin casting replaces the probe for taking on fuel in flight on the American Douglas A-4 Skyhawk carrier attack aircraft in 1:48 scale. This characteristic feature on the nose of the fuselage tends to be too coarse in plastic; the resin replacement offers a more accurate, thinner and cleaner rendering. The part is meant for modelers who want to refine the silhouette of the aircraft without laborious rework.
The refueling probe is a slender, clearly visible feature on the nose of the Skyhawk, and how fine it is has a decisive effect on the overall impression a model makes. The casting captures the thin section and the tip of the probe, which are hard to achieve on a thicker plastic part. Once cleaned up and painted, the nose of the aircraft looks far more accurate and convincing in scale.
