Special Hobby Fairey Firefly U Mk.8 Drone 1:48 is an injection-molded plastic kit of the British aircraft converted into a remotely controlled aerial target.
Responsibility details are not available.
An injection-molded plastic kit of the British aircraft Fairey Firefly in the U Mk.8 version in 1:48 scale from Special Hobby. The box holds gray plastic moldings, clear parts, resin accessories and decals for strikingly finished machines. The U Mk.8 version comes from the same molds as the anti-submarine version but adds the parts typical of the converted remotely controlled targets. It is supplied unassembled and unpainted.
The Firefly U Mk.8 was a conversion of the aircraft into an unmanned aerial target, which served for the training and testing of new anti-aircraft guided missiles of the Royal Navy. These machines received a striking warning finish and were operated above all from the Welsh base at Llanbedr.
It is a short-run kit that more experienced modelers will appreciate. Wash the resin parts free of mold release agent, cut off the casting blocks carefully and bond them with super glue. The striking yellow and red scheme will stand out when sprayed with an airbrush over a good base.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
