This is not a stand-alone model: resin ski landing gear turns a standard Fokker D.XXI kit into the winter variant, and the enclosed decals offer markings for two versions of the aircraft. With the parts and the decals in one package, all you still need for an unusual winter machine is the base kit and paints.
The Fokker D.XXI was a Dutch fighter with fixed landing gear and a radial engine, simple and undemanding to operate from field airfields. It made its name above all in Finnish service: in the freezing conditions of the Winter War, Finnish pilots achieved remarkable successes on this modest aircraft, and some of the machines received snow skis instead of wheels, which allowed operation from snow-covered and frozen surfaces. The winter D.XXI on skis is therefore one of the most characteristic faces of the type.
Glue the skis with cyanoacrylate glue and align the geometry of the landing gear on a flat surface. Apply the decals on a gloss base and use a decal softener so that they settle around the rivets and edges; coat over them once dry. A snow-covered base naturally suits a winter aircraft, and even a simple display base with snow lifts the model considerably.
