Eduard 1:48 Fw 190A-8 cockpit is a resin detail set from the Brassin line that replaces the standard cockpit of an Fw 190A-8 model in 1:48 scale with an accurate resin casting with color etchings and instrument decals.

It is not an aircraft kit but an aftermarket accessory from the Brassin line of the Czech manufacturer Eduard. The set serves to exchange the standard cockpit of an injection-molded kit for a detailed resin casting in 1:48 scale. In the package there are resin castings, color-printed photo-etched parts and instrument decals, so you get a cockpit complete with instrument panel and seat belts. The base Fw 190A-8 kit has to be bought separately.
Casting in resin manages sharper edges and finer relief than injection-molded plastic. The cockpit tub, the side panels, the seat and the small controls therefore have markedly more legible detail than the plastic original. The color etchings and the decals moreover replace the lengthy hand painting of small instruments and placards, which with an open canopy immediately raises the level of the whole model.
Wash the parts first in lukewarm water with detergent, so that the remains of the mold release agent are removed. Cut the casting blocks off with a fine saw or a cutter and never break them. Sand strictly wet and with your airways protected. Resin is glued with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue), as ordinary cement for plastic has no effect on it. Before gluing it in, test-fit the fuselage halves together, as a resin tub tends to be tighter than the plastic part and sometimes the inner walls have to be sanded down slightly. Apply the paint over a primer, as otherwise it holds badly on smooth resin.
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
