A photo-etched detailing set from the Czech maker Eduard of Obrnice near Most, intended for working up a plastic model of the F-16I Sufa in 1:48 scale. The parts are etched from thin sheet and replace or supplement the simplified plastic parts. The set does not make a model — you need the matching plastic kit for it.
The name carries no closer subtitle, which is usual with Eduard's photo-etched ranges. Sets of this type usually bring features whose thickness in injection-molded plastic is unrealistic in scale. The specific make-up of the parts and any color printing are given in the manufacturer's instructions.
The F-16I is the two-seat Israeli version of the single-engine F-16, derived from the two-seat variant of a later production block. It differs visibly from the basic standard above all in the dorsal spine behind the cockpit and in the conformal tanks on the upper side of the fuselage, which changes both the silhouette and the division of the surface — for building a model these are substantial differences.
Separate the parts with a sharp scalpel on a hard surface, not with nippers. Make the bends in a photo-etch bender or between two blades. Degrease the sheet before gluing and join it with superglue (cyanoacrylate) or an adhesive for photo-etched parts; cement for plastic does not hold on metal. Paint and fit the interior parts before the fuselage is closed up. Use a primer meant for metal on bare sheet, otherwise the paint rubs off.
This is an accessory for a model, not the model itself. The kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
