The Tamiya Zimmerit sheet for the Tiger I (1:48) is a detail accessory that adds the texture of the Zimmerit anti-magnetic coating to a model of the Tiger I heavy tank. It is not a kit, but a surface sheet for a kit in 1:48 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
This set holds a thin self-adhesive sheet with an embossed Zimmerit texture, that is the anti-magnetic coating applied to German tanks during the Second World War. The sheet is shaped for a model of the Tiger I heavy tank in 1:48 scale. It is not a stand-alone model or a kit, but a surface accessory that replaces the laborious hand application of the Zimmerit texture with putty.
Zimmerit was a paste-like compound applied to the vertical surfaces of the hull and turret, whose ridged pattern was meant to prevent magnetic mines from sticking. The Tiger I was a German heavy tank deployed from 1942, and its later examples carried exactly this distinctive texture. A faithful rendering of Zimmerit raises the realism of a finished model considerably.
Cut the sheet to the shape of the given surface, lay it on the clean surface of the model and press it down. It is best to work in smaller sections and to line it up with the edges of the parts carefully. Once applied, paint over the sheet together with the hull and bring out the texture with a dry brush or a wash.
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and the base kit are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
