Hauler 1:48 German smoke grenade launchers - a small resin accessory for models of German armored vehicles. It is not a kit but a replacement for coarser plastic parts.

This is an aftermarket accessory from the Czech maker Hauler, not a model in its own right. The set replaces the smoke grenade launchers, that is, the small equipment that German armored vehicles carried on the hull or on the turret. Parts like these are among the most delicate on a model: they have thin walls, slender brackets and in 1:48 scale they measure only a few millimeters. A resin casting holds sharp edges and a fine relief considerably better than a part drawn from an ordinary injection mold.
A smoke grenade launcher allowed a crew to screen the vehicle with a cloud quickly, whether while breaking off an engagement or while covering a move. On German vehicles of the Second World War the arrangement changed over time: from a discharge device with smoke candles at the rear of the hull to groups of launcher tubes placed on the sides of the turret. The shape and the placement therefore differ according to the type of vehicle and the period in which the machine served - before building it pays to compare the parts with documentation on your subject.
First wash the castings in lukewarm water with detergent so that no release agent from the mold is left on them; without that the paint will not hold. Never break the casting blocks off, but cut them with a modeling saw a little away from the part and sand the remainder down. Resin sands best wet and with protection for your breathing. It is bonded with super glue; ordinary cement for plastic has no effect on resin. If the casting has only a suggested but solid tube mouth, it can be carefully opened up with a micro drill bit in a pin vise. After the base coat of primer has been sprayed, the parts are painted together with the vehicle and at the end just brought out with a dark wash, so that the rims and the brackets stand out.
The set holds accessory parts only and is supplied unpainted. The kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
