A set of masks for the glazing of the Hawker Hurricane Mk IIc fighter in 1:48 scale for Hasegawa plastic. It masks the sliding hood and the fixed rear panes from both sides and adds roundel masks and decals.
Responsibility details are not available.
The cannon sub-version received four 20 mm Hispanos in the wing and with them the tasks for which speed was no longer enough: night fighting, attacks on ground targets and combat over the desert. The construction with a fabric-covered tube-frame fuselage proved exceptionally durable and easy to repair, which made the Hurricane an aircraft that served on every front right to the end of the war.
Besides the windscreen and the hood that slides back, the cockpit also has fixed side panes behind the pilot's backrest, set into the upper edge of the fuselage. They tend to be smaller, harder to reach, and more of them is visible on a finished model than one would expect. The set is worked out for both sides of the glazing, so these rear surfaces get the right color on the inside too, and on a Hurricane that shows, because the interior is seen through them.
With a fabric covering it pays to apply the paint really thinly so that the structure of the ribs under the surface stays visible. Fit the mask on the glazing therefore before you start building up the camouflage pattern, and leave it in place throughout the painting, including the final matte coat. Desert schemes also take a later emphasis on the panel lines, which would be hard to correct on a clean surface of glass.
