Hauler 1:48 JS-2 additional stand-off armor is a specialized photo-etched set for a built or part-built kit of the IS-2 heavy tank, not the model itself.
Responsibility details are not available.
This set holds photo-etched metal parts representing the additional stand-off armor on the Soviet IS-2 heavy tank, also written as JS-2, in 1:48 scale. It is not a kit of the tank - it is an aftermarket accessory from the Czech maker Hauler for the Tamiya kit. Unlike the basic photo-etched set for the same subject, it concentrates on one particular element and changes the look of the whole vehicle.
Stand-off or spaced armor consists of sheet or mesh shields carried on brackets at a certain distance from the hull and the turret. Their purpose is to set off or disrupt a hit before it reaches the armor proper, which reduces the effect of shaped-charge ammunition. On heavy tanks this solution is met with above all at the close of the Second World War and in postwar service.
Here there is no improvising along the way. Lay out the whole procedure first: the shields are fitted on small feet and brackets, which have to sit evenly and parallel to the surface, or the whole structure looks wavy. It pays to set up a simple jig from a strip of plastic that keeps the spacing always the same. Glue the brackets with super glue one at a time and let them dry before you offer up the shield itself. Painting is easier in parts: spray the hull and the shields separately, assemble them and only then unify them with a light overspray and weathering.
This is an accessory set, not a model. The kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
