The self-adhesive masking set Eduard Lockheed TF-104G Starfighter TFace in 1:48 scale, cut from kabuki tape. An accessory for a kit, not a model.
Responsibility details are not available.
A set of precisely cut self-adhesive masks from the Czech maker Eduard for a model of the Lockheed TF-104G Starfighter TFace in 1:48 scale. The masks are cut from kabuki tape, that is, from a fine Japanese masking tape that holds well even on slightly curved surfaces, forms no capillary for paint to run under the edge and leaves no adhesive on the clear parts once it is taken off. This is neither a kit nor a finished model but an accessory that shortens the most tiresome part of the build.
The TF-104G was the two-seat training version of the fighter aircraft Lockheed F-104G Starfighter. The lengthened cockpit with two seats one behind the other means a longer canopy with a framing of its own. The type kept the slender fuselage, one jet engine and the thin trapezoidal wing of small span. With European users it served mainly for training and for keeping pilots current.
The designation TFace means that the set holds masks for the outer and the inner side of the glazing alike. The frames thereby take on the right color even seen from inside the cockpit, which with large glazing in 1:48 scale is plainly apparent when the canopy is open. The procedure has two phases. First stick the inner masks on, spray the shade of the interior, then glue the part into the fuselage, apply the outer masks and spray the camouflage or the metal. Take the inner mask off only at the very end, as it protects the glazing during the final varnishing too.
This is an accessory for a kit. The kit, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
