A masking set for the Messerschmitt Bf 109G-6 in 1:48 scale with metal parts. It covers the cockpit glazing from both sides, adds one mask for the national insignia, metal muzzles for a pair of MG 131 machine guns and a Pitot tube.
Responsibility details are not available.
The G-6 sub-version was built in greater numbers than any other Messerschmitt. Its most conspicuous feature is the bulged fairings on the sides of the cowling, under which the breeches of the MG 131 machine guns of thirteen millimeters caliber are hidden. Those replaced the weaker weapons of the older lines and earned the aircraft the nickname Beule, meaning bulge, among the crews. It is around them that the attention converges when a finished model is seen from the front.
The film carries cut-outs for the glazing from the outer as well as the inner side, one mask for the national insignia and metal components, namely the muzzles of both MG 131 and the airspeed sensor under the wing. The pattern for the shapes was the parts of the Hasegawa kit.
Cut-outs for the inside make sense on a cockpit hinged to the side or where the glazing is thick and an unmasked frame would show through it. Anyone building the canopy closed and glued will never use half the contents. A similar consideration applies to the metal: these are not whole weapons but short muzzle extensions, so when the bulges on the cowling are molded solid, the builder has to drill a hole into them first.
