Markings for three Messerschmitts of the E-3 version from the fall of 1939 to October 1940. The subjects belong to pilots of three different fighter wings and suit kits in 1:48.
Responsibility details are not available.
The E-3 version was the form of the Messerschmitt with which the German fighter force entered the war and with which a year later it finished its flying over the English Channel. An engine with direct fuel injection, cannons in the wing and a narrow-track landing gear gave the type a character that forgave its pilots little and rewarded them much. The sheet offers three personal aircraft of men who went through both ends of that road with it.
Priller's subject is the best known of the three — the same pilot later became the commander of the whole wing and his name is known to everyone with an interest in the fighting over France. Hahn's machine on the other hand captures an entirely different period: still before the great air battles unfolded, when aircraft carried a darker camouflage and less conspicuous insignia.
Given the difference in the year of manufacture, the shape of the camouflage fields differs with each subject as well, which the print itself does not handle; these are paints that have to be sprayed on in advance. The transfer of the motifs themselves is within the reach even of a beginner, only it is good to work one element at a time and to let each one dry.
With the subject of the fall of 1940 the yellow color of the nose is worth attention, which units carried at that time as a quick-recognition marking; the print reckons with it and must not cover it over.
