A photo-etched metal set for a model of the Mil Mi-24D Hind attack helicopter in 1:48 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Mi-24, nicknamed Hind, is a Soviet attack helicopter that differs from Western gunships in one fundamental thing: behind the crew cockpit it has a cargo compartment, so it can not only fire but also deliver a landing party. The D version introduced a pair of stepped cockpits under separate canopies, with the gunner sitting in front of and lower than the pilot. The armament is carried on stub wings at the sides of the fuselage, which at the same time unload the main rotor in flight.
This is a fret of photo-etched metal parts with which the detail of a Mi-24D model in 1:48 scale is supplemented. Photo-etching makes it possible to do thin and intricate shapes that cannot be produced in plastic. Which particular parts of the model the set addresses and how many parts it contains are stated in the manufacturer's instructions included in the package.
The parts are held in the fret by thin tabs. Separate them with a sharp blade on a hard backing and never break them out, because they will bend and straightening them back is thankless work. Make the bends along the marked lines, ideally in a bending tool or between two straight blades. They are glued with cyanoacrylate or two-part glue; plastic cement does not hold on metal. Before painting, wash and degrease the fret and use a primer for metal, otherwise the finish will peel off when you handle it.
The set suits modelers who are looking for detail beyond the injection-molded kit on a helicopter and are not afraid of working with small metal parts. The model, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
