An accessory for the build, not a kit. The set contains cut self-adhesive masks of kabuki paper in 1:48 scale for the Mistel S1 composite combination. In the New Ware range the designation BIG EXPERT is the highest of the three grades the manufacturer offers for this subject (BASIC, EXPERT, BIG EXPERT). The particular contents of the package are given in the manufacturer's instructions.
The Mistel S1 is the training form of a composite combination in which the lower twin-engine aircraft carries a single-seat fighter machine above it. A modeler is therefore building two airframes at once and has correspondingly more masking tasks: the extensive intricate glazing of the lower aircraft, the separate canopy of the upper machine and two sets of landing gear wheels. The highest grade of the set is the logical answer on precisely such a subject, as the extent of masking on a composite model goes beyond what is usual with a single fighter aircraft.
With an extensive set the first step is organizational: sort the masks according to the machine and according to the order in which you will need them. Wash and degrease the clear parts, otherwise paint will creep underneath. Stick the frames on pane by pane and press the edges with a blunt tool. Apply the paint in thin coats; otherwise a conspicuous step arises on intricate glazing. The proven sequence is the interior shade, then the base coat and finally the top finish. Try the fit of both airframes and of the supporting structure dry before painting. Take the masks off with tweezers at an angle, while the finish has not yet cured.
The set does not contain the model, paints or glue. Before buying, check that the masks match the kit you are building.
