A decal sheet in 1:48 scale for the Japanese Mitsubishi A6M3 Model 32 fighter, concentrating on machines flown over the Solomon Islands.
Responsibility details are not available.
The A6M3 Model 32 is the variant of the Japanese carrier fighter you can tell at a glance by its clipped, square-cut wingtips. The shortened wing was meant to improve the roll rate and the speed, but it was paid for with a shorter range, which turned out to be a telling limitation in the fighting over the South Pacific. The Allied designation for this form was Hamp.
The sheet concentrates on machines operating over the Solomon Islands and is cut for models in 1:48 scale. Before you use it, make sure your kit represents the Model 32 with the shortened wing and not the version with rounded tips. The exact number of finishes offered and the extent of the additional lettering are in the instructions supplied with the sheet.
A decal holds best on a smooth gloss surface, so coat the model with gloss varnish once it is painted. Cut the decal out together with the margin of the carrier film, dip it in lukewarm water for a few seconds and let it stand until it starts to slide on the backing. Move it into place with a brush, blot off the excess water and push out any air bubbles. On rivets and in hollows a decal softener helps the film draw down onto the surface. Once it has dried, seal the decals with a further coat of varnish, which evens the sheen out with the surroundings.
The kit, the paints, the varnish and the decal softener are not included in the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
