An injection-molded plastic kit of the Japanese carrier fighter Mitsubishi A6M5/5a Zero in 1:48 scale from Tamiya. The model allows either the A6M5 or the A6M5a version to be built, that is one of the most heavily produced modifications of the legendary Zero. The Allies used the reporting name Zeke for this type. Check the actual package contents and the decal options against the manufacturer's part number for this item.
The A6M Zero was the standard carrier fighter of the Imperial Japanese Navy and in the first years of the war in the Pacific it stood out for its exceptional range and agility. It was powered by a Nakajima Sakae radial engine. The A6M5 version of 1943 received a strengthened airframe and reworked exhausts and became the most widespread variant, even though it was by then facing ever stronger Allied fighters.
Glue the parts with liquid cement for plastic and sand the seams. Paint and pick out the cockpit interior before closing the fuselage. Glue the glazing with canopy glue so that the plastic does not cloud; masking suits the two-tone schemes. After applying a gloss coat and the decals, pick out the panel lines with a wash and add subtle wear.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
