The Pilatus PC-6 Turbo Porter is a Swiss single-engine high-wing aircraft that became famous for its ability to take off and land on a very short strip. A strut-braced wing of large area, fixed landing gear with a tail wheel and a turboprop engine made it a machine for places where an ordinary aircraft cannot put down: mountain strips, glaciers, field airfields and cargo drops. It flew with parachutists, with supplies and in the liaison role, and it served for decades with civil operators as well as military users. The designation B1-H2 belongs to one of the turboprop production versions.
A model of the aircraft in 1:48 scale for you to build yourself. It is supplied unassembled and unpainted; the number of parts, the decal options and the recommended shades are given in the manufacturer's instructions. Go through the instructions in full before the build, because on high-wing aircraft the fitting out of the cockpit and the nose weight are decided before the fuselage is glued together.
The interior of the cockpit is clearly visible under the large glazing, so it is worth spending time on it and painting it before closing the fuselage. Mask the glazing before spraying, not after the paint has dried. Glue the wing struts only once the joint between the wing and the fuselage has set, otherwise the angle will go astray. The fixed landing gear takes a lot of handling, but the tail wheel is slender, so treat it with care.
Paints, glue and accessory sets are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
