The Pilatus PC-6 Turbo Porter is a Swiss single-engine aircraft famous for its ability to take off and land on a very short runway. It will put down even on an unprepared strip, a glacier or a mountain plateau, and that is why it is used to supply remote places, to carry cargo, for parachute jumps and for military duties. The PC-6/B1-H2 version has a turboprop engine, which the Turbo Porter name also refers to. Typical of it are a high-mounted wing braced with struts, a glazed cockpit with a good view downward and fixed landing gear with a tail wheel.
A plastic kit of the aircraft in 1:48 scale. It is supplied unassembled and unpainted; the assembly, the painting and the application of the markings are up to the modeler. Check the exact contents of the box and the range of markings against the manufacturer's information.
Set the wing struts all at once and let the whole thing dry undisturbed in a stable position, otherwise the wing will go out of true. The cockpit glazing on this aircraft is large and will draw attention: glue it with a glue meant for clear parts so that it does not go cloudy, and mask it before spraying the paint. Machines operated from unprepared strips have dusty landing gear and a dusty lower fuselage, so discreet soiling will do the model good.
It will appeal to collectors of civil and utility aircraft as well as to modelers looking for something other than a fighter. It is also rewarding for a diorama, because it invites settings from a mountain airfield to a dusty strip in remote country.
Paints, glue and tools are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
