This set is not a model of an airplane but decals in 1:48 scale. They reproduce the grain of pine wood in a warmer shade tuned toward yellow and serve for decorating the wooden parts of a model faithfully, typically propellers, floors or interior elements. The yellow tone matches lighter wood lit up by varnish. The manufacturer is the Czech firm HGW.
The propellers and structural elements of older aircraft were made of laminated wood; depending on the kind of wood and the varnish used, the surface had a warmer or a cooler shade. The yellower tone faithfully captures the lighter, amber-varnished wood that often appears on period propellers.
Apply the decal to a smooth, light and varnished base, best of all with a decal softener. On propellers, run the growth rings along the blade. Once it has dried, the shade can be fine-tuned with a thin glaze and the whole fixed with varnish, so that the wood gains depth.
This is a decorative accessory, not a model in its own right. The package does not contain the base kit, glue or paints, unless stated otherwise.
