A decal sheet in 1:48 scale for a model of the Soviet Polikarpov Po-2 biplane, earlier designated the U-2, on the theme of its wartime service.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Polikarpov Po-2 is a Soviet biplane from the end of the 1920s, designed originally as a basic trainer. It was simple, cheap and it tolerated operation from muddy field strips, and that is exactly why it became a general-purpose machine: it trained pilots, flew liaison and medical flights, and in the war it also served as a light night bomber that was hard to intercept at low altitude and low speed. The double designation in the name is not a mistake: the type originally carried the abbreviation U-2, and the renaming to Po-2 after its designer came only during the war.
This is a standalone decal sheet in 1:48 scale on the theme of machines from the wartime period. The list of the particular aircraft, their national insignia, numbers and lettering, as well as the exact placing of the subjects, is given by the manufacturer in the instructions for the sheet. The fabric covering of the subject matters for the application: the surface of the model is not smooth, and the ribs and seams stand out under the film.
Prepare the surface with gloss varnish; on a matte area air is trapped under the film and a pale frame stays around the subject. Trim the subject close to the edge and soak it briefly in lukewarm water. As soon as it releases from the paper, move it into place and settle it with a soft brush, pushing the water out with a cloth from the center toward the edges. A decal softener will help the film cling to the ribs and seams of the fabric covering. Seal the dried decal with varnish so that the edges blend into the surface.
What is supplied is the decal sheet on its own as an accessory for building a model. The kit, the paints, the varnishes and the decal softener are not included in the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
