This set contains two resin castings of the Swedish m/57 rocket pod in 1:48 scale, in the variant without the front cover fitted. Unlike the closed release, the face of the pod is exposed here, so you can see inside. It is an armament accessory for a model of the Saab J 32B Lansen or J 35 Draken, not an aircraft kit. Maestro Models is a Swedish brand that makes these domestic stores precisely because ordinary kits lack them.
The m/57 pod carried a cluster of unguided rockets and in flight its face was closed by an aerodynamic cover. That came away on launch, so after the armament had been used the aircraft continued with the pod exposed - and exactly this state is what this variant of the set matches. An exposed face also suits a scene on the ground during loading or inspection, when the cover is off. The m/57 pods were part of the armament of Swedish aircraft at the turn of the 1950s and 1960s; the designation by domestic custom refers to the year of introduction, that is, 1957.
With an exposed face the inside is on view, so give it more work than with the closed version. First clean the mouths of the tubes of resin remains and carefully clear any flash with a drill turned by hand, not in a motor tool - resin chips out easily. Wash the castings in lukewarm water with dish soap and level the mating surfaces of both pieces together, so that they sit the same. Paint the inside in a dark shade before assembly and suggest any traces of burnt gases with restraint, with a fine smoky hint running back from the mouths. They are attached with cyanoacrylate glue; with a heavier part, pre-drill the joint and reinforce it with wire.
This is an accessory set, not a model in its own right. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
