A detail engine set for the Supermarine Seafire FR 46/FR 47 carrier-based fighter in 1:48 scale from Aires. The resin accessory makes it possible to show the powerplant exposed with its accessories and to fill the engine bay of a kit with faithful detail.
The Seafire FR 46 and FR 47 were the late carrier-based versions derived from the Spitfire fighter, adapted for service aboard aircraft carriers. They were powered by the powerful Rolls-Royce Griffon V12 engine with a contra-rotating propeller. The FR designation (fighter reconnaissance) refers to their fighter and reconnaissance role in the postwar period.
Wash the mold release agent off the parts, cut off the casting blocks and bond with super glue. The engine comes into its own once the individual units are painted carefully, the lines picked out and a gentle patina added. For a striking look, leave part of the cowling open.
This is a resin accessory for a kit, not an airplane model. The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted; the base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
