Responsibility details are not available.
A sheet of wet decals in 1:48 scale for models of the heavy Sikorsky RH-53D helicopter. After soaking in water the decals slide off the backing onto a finished painted model and serve as an alternative or a supplement to the markings from the box. The model itself is not part of the package.
The RH-53D is the mine countermeasures version of the American Sikorsky Sea Stallion family of heavy helicopters, powered by two turboshaft engines and equipped for towing minesweeping gear in flight low over the water. It was operated above all by the US Navy in mine warfare units, where the machines worked from shore bases as well as from the decks of large ships. Some of the examples built were delivered abroad. Given their task the machines had sturdy airframes, prominent warning lettering and a uniform dark naval finish, which shows to advantage precisely in the larger 1:48 scale.
Finish the model in paint and overspray it with a gloss clear coat so that the decal does not silver. Cut the designs out close to the printing, soak them in lukewarm water and let them rest until they will slide. The large areas of the fuselage and the tail boom are easy to manage, while a decal softener helps at the doors, windows and transitions. Apply the small warning lettering at the rotor head and the engines last, with the help of tweezers and a damp brush. Seal the finished markings with a matte varnish.
It is a separate decal sheet. The model, paints and glue are not included in the package.
