Montex - a masking set for the Supermarine Spitfire Mk.IXc in 1:48 scale - die-cut self-adhesive templates for a precise spray finish on the canopy and the markings of this famous British fighter.
Responsibility details are not available.
Self-adhesive die-cut Montex masks are a fast way to a professionally sprayed model of the Spitfire Mk.IXc in 1:48 scale. The templates trace the frames of the canopy and the windshield precisely, and the range also allows for masks for spraying the national insignia, which replace decals. The set is an accessory for painting, not a kit, and it is cut to fit a particular model - please check compatibility with your kit before buying.
The Spitfire Mk.IX came about as a quick answer to the superiority of the German Fw 190. The Rolls-Royce Merlin engine with a two-stage supercharger gave the Spitfire back its parity in performance and, although it was originally a stopgap solution, the Mk.IX became one of the most numerous versions of the type. The letter c denotes the universal wing, which allowed various combinations of cannon and machine gun armament. The Mk.IX was flown by RAF squadrons and by Allied pilots on the Western Front, in the Mediterranean and later over Germany as well.
Apply the masks with tweezers onto a degreased surface and smooth the edges down with a toothpick. Spray light layers with an airbrush at right angles to the edge; on the insignia, start with the light color and continue with the darker ones. Once it has dried, take the masks off carefully - the edges will stay sharp with no touching up by hand.
A masking accessory - the model, the paints and the glue are not included in the package.
