This is a set of photo-etched parts in brass for a faithful rendition of the lowered landing flaps of the Supermarine Spitfire Mk.I/II fighter in 1:48 scale. It is not a model of the aircraft but an accessory for a plastic kit.
The set brings photo-etched parts for the landing flaps of the Supermarine Spitfire model in the Mk.I and Mk.II versions in 1:48 scale - fine panels and bracing that let the flaps be shown in the lowered position, including their inner structure. The result is a more realistic look to the wing on a parked machine.
The Supermarine Spitfire was a British fighter of the Second World War with its characteristic elliptical wing. The early Mk.I and Mk.II versions made their name during the Battle of Britain. The Spitfire used simple hinged flaps, which on the ground were often shown in the lowered position.
Separate the parts carefully with a sharp knife or with photo-etch shears, make the bends along the engraved lines, ideally in a bending tool, and glue them with super glue (cyanoacrylate) or epoxy. Degrease the surface before painting; photo-etched parts hold paint better once a base primer has been sprayed on.
This is a separate set of photo-etched parts, an accessory, not a model of the aircraft. The plastic kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
