Montex for the Spitfire Mk IX in 1:48 scale handles the masking of the glazing from both viewpoints and adds a set of insignia and decals. The outlines correspond to Eduard plastic.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Mk IX came about as a quick solution to the crisis into which the British fighter arm was thrown by the arrival of the Fw 190. A two-stage Merlin was built into the airframe of the Mark V, a second radiator was added under the wing and the performance at altitude was evened out at a stroke. The version was built in variants for low, medium and high altitude and became the most numerous Spitfire of all. The cockpit has a side door, a sliding hood and a windscreen with flat armored glass.
The transparent parts are mounted on the model only at the very end, after the paint and after the matte coat. Until then keep them stored in a bag, not on the table, where dust settles on them. Masked glazing can be safely set aside even stuck to a piece of paper, so that the adhesive side does not gather dust.
Fast cyanoacrylate glues release vapors which form a white film on a nearby window. On the cockpit therefore reach for PVA glue (white glue) for glazing, which dries clear, or for a thin layer of varnish. The film stays in place until the part is glued and the seam has dried, and only then is it removed.
The package carries masking for the glazing from the outer and the reverse side, a field with round insignia and a decal sheet. The basis was Eduard plastic in 1:48 scale. The sheet is flat and takes being stored between the pages of an instruction sheet, so the remaining shapes will wait for the next build uncreased. The set assumes that the transparent parts are mounted on the airframe only after the paint is finished, and its shapes match that procedure.
