Quickboost 1:48 Spitfire Mk. IX fuel tank is a resin accessory with a faithfully cast external fuel tank for a plastic model of this British fighter.
Responsibility details are not available.
This resin detail set in 1:48 scale from the Quickboost brand rounds out a model of the Spitfire with a precisely cast external fuel tank. The part has a clean shape and a fine surface, and once built in under the fuselage it raises the fidelity of a model in the long-range variant. It is not a stand-alone model of the airplane but an accessory for an existing kit.
The Supermarine Spitfire Mk.IX was a British single-seat fighter with the Rolls-Royce Merlin V12 engine with a two-stage supercharger. For longer flights and escort duties, external fuel tanks were slung under the fuselage and could be jettisoned once they were empty. The Mk.IX version was among the most widespread in the Second World War.
Wash the resin part free of mold release residue, cut off the casting block and glue it with super glue (cyanoacrylate). Before building it in, check the fit against the underside of the fuselage of the kit and seat it by sanding with respiratory protection if need be. Paint the surface in keeping with the lower surface of the model.
This is a resin accessory for more experienced modelers, not a stand-alone model. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
