Wet transfers – stencil markings for the Spitfire Mk.IX 1:48 are a set of realistic decals with period maintenance and warning lettering. It is not a model but an accessory for refining the surface.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is not an airplane model but a set of wet transfers from a Czech manufacturer. It holds the small technical markings – the maintenance, warning and service lettering known as stencils – that the real Supermarine Spitfire Mk.IX carried. Wet transfers are extraordinarily thin and leave no visible carrier film once applied, so the lettering looks as if it were painted straight onto the surface. The set is intended for a model in 1:48 scale.
The Supermarine Spitfire Mk.IX was one of the most widespread and best performing versions of the famous British fighter of the Second World War. The Mk.IX version came about as an answer to the appearance of the German Focke-Wulf fighters and brought a more powerful Merlin engine with a two-stage supercharger.
The transfers are moved into place with water on a smooth, gloss-varnished surface. Work through the lettering piece by piece, blot the excess water once each one has settled and let it dry thoroughly. Finally seal it with matte or satin varnish according to the character of the surface. Thanks to the minimal carrier film, the usual glossy outline of a decal does not appear.
The accessory calls for a base kit; the paints, the varnish and the model are not included in the package.
