Resin control surfaces for the Spitfire Mk.IX in the early configuration, 1:48 scale, are an accessory set for a plastic kit you have already bought, not a model of its own. They replace the rudder and ailerons and are cut for the Airfix kit.

The set is intended for a modeler building the British Supermarine Spitfire Mk.IX fighter in 1:48 scale who wants to replace the control surfaces from the kit with more accurate resin castings. The early designation in the name refers to the earlier configuration of the control surfaces of this type. The accessory is not an airplane model and cannot be built without the base kit.
The Spitfire went through a series of small modifications in its career, and the rudder and the elevators are among the parts that differed between the individual versions. A model built with the wrong variant of tail surfaces looks fine at first glance, but those who know will notice the difference. Besides fidelity of shape, resin brings sharper parting gaps between the fixed and the moving part and a finer surface, which captures the texture of the skin better than plastic drawn from a mold.
Wash the castings in lukewarm soapy water to remove the mold release agent from the surface and let them dry. Cut the casting blocks off with a saw and sand the remains wet with respiratory protection. On the kit, cut the original surfaces off and level the edge with a file held flat. Test dry until the part sits with no pressure, and only then glue with super glue. If you set the surfaces deflected, see that the deflection follows a logic: the control surfaces of a parked aircraft tend to be free with no pressure in the system. Before painting, spray the resin with primer, otherwise paint holds poorly on the smooth surface. According to the manufacturer the accessory is cut for the Airfix kit.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
