Pre-cut masks in kabuki paper for a model of the Su-27 aircraft in 1:48 scale. It is neither a kit nor a part of a model, but an aid that takes the place of cutting masking tape by hand. BASIC is the entry level of the range; for the same aircraft and scale the manufacturer also makes the ADVANCED and EXPERT levels and separate sets focused on the exhaust nozzles. The Su-27 has a long sliding canopy with a massive frame and a separate windshield with a center rib. In 1:48 scale these are areas that can be masked with tape as well, but it takes a long time and the symmetry of the two sides is only as good as your ability to repeat a cut exactly. A pre-cut shape removes that problem and is the same on the left and right sides.
A sensible order is: finish and paint the cockpit, fix the clear part with a glue intended for clear plastic, and only then stick the masks on and spray the base color and the camouflage. The frames then get exactly the same shade as the surrounding airframe, which shows on a finished model. Spray a gloss clear coat before the decals, but leave the masks in place until the paint spraying is done — take them off before the varnish or after it, depending on whether you want the frames glossy.
