The Sukhoi Su-27UB is the two-seat combat trainer version of the Su-27 heavy twin-engine fighter. The second crew member sits behind the pilot, so the cockpit is longer and carries a considerably larger glazed area than the single-seat standard. It is precisely the long canopy with its many frames that tends to be the slowest work when such a model is painted. A hand-brushed frame tends to show at first glance, whereas a masked transition is sharp.
The set contains masking templates for covering the areas that are to stay clean after spraying, that is above all the cockpit glazing. The templates are applied directly to the part and removed again once painting is finished. The extent of the set and the recommended order are given in the manufacturer's instructions. The shape of the templates is derived from a particular kit, so check before buying which kit the set is cut for.
